SNOWFLAKE, AZ (AZFamily) — Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect after a woman was shot just outside of Snowflake on Tuesday night.
The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened east of town along Hay Hollow Road around 7:30 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found a 66-year-old woman who had been shot. She was flown to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of Wednesday afternoon, deputies say the suspect is on the run but haven’t specified whether they have identified any persons of interest.
The sheriff’s office stressed that this investigation is not connected to a recent shooting in nearby Taylor, where a married couple who were members of the Arizona Rangers were found dead on Sunday. An arrest hasn’t been announced in that case.
“While we understand the community is shaken and eager for answers, we are limited in what information can be released at this stage. We ask the public to avoid spreading unverified information on social media, as it can hinder the investigation and create unnecessary fear,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
