SPRINGERVILLE — A shooting incident involving law enforcement took place at the Round Valley Police Department, as confirmed by Springerville’s town manager.
The shooting occurred on Wednesday (1/14) afternoon at approximately 12:50 p.m. and is presently under investigation.
According to a press release issued by the town, the event in this Eastern Arizona community led officials to close the town hall and other municipal offices.
All offices will remain closed for the remainder of the day.
Schools in the vicinity were also placed under a shelter-in-place order around 12:50 p.m., as stated in a Facebook post by Round Valley Schools.
“All students and staff were accounted for and safe. Once the situation was contained, we lifted the shelter in place,” the post indicates.
The town of Springerville informs the public that there is currently no ongoing threat.
Over the past year, the Round Valley Police Department has been the focus of an investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
