On April 22, 2026, at approximately 4:13 p.m., Navajo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported burglary at a residence in the Pinetop area.
The homeowner reported observing an individual inside the residence through a home security camera system and provided deputies with a description of the suspect. Deputies arrived on scene, secured the residence, and began searching the surrounding area.
During the investigation, deputies located a male subject across the street from the home with several items believed to have been taken from the residence. The individual matched the description provided by the homeowner and was detained without incident.
Evidence collected at the scene, including security camera footage, physical evidence inside the residence, and statements made during the investigation, linked the suspect to the burglary.
The suspect was identified as Joshua Hovel, 40, of Whiteriver, and was arrested on charges related to burglary and theft. He was transported to the Show Low Jail Annex for booking.
The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that home security systems can play an important role in helping deputies quickly identify suspects and protect property.
