Prescribed Fire on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. This map will most likely impact Pinetop-Lakeside and Show Low with smoke depending on wind direction.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs Fort Apache Agency, in collaboration with White Mountain Apache Tribal Forestry, will begin prescribed burning operations on November 3, 2025, weather permitting.
Prescribed fire is an important tool used to reduce vegetation fuels, restore natural fire regimes, and help protect surrounding communities.
These planned burns are carefully managed under specific conditions to maintain low to moderate fire intensity, producing beneficial ecological effects.
The following prescribed burn units are scheduled for ignition over the coming weeks, dependent on favorable weather conditions.
Residents and visitors may see smoke in the area during this time. Please use caution when driving near burn zones and be mindful of changing visibility.
Pinetop Fire District supports the efforts of our partners at the Bureau of Indian Affairs and White Mountain Apache Tribal Forestry in promoting forest health and community safety through proactive fire management.
