Married couple, Arizona Rangers, found shot to death in Taylor home

TAYLOR, AZ (AZFamily) — Snowflake-Taylor police are investigating after a married couple was found shot to death inside their northern Arizona home earlier this week.

They have been identified as 62-year-old Troy Templeton and 53-year-old Cynthia Templeton. Both were also members of the Arizona Rangers, a uniformed law enforcement auxiliary unit that provides assistance to federal, state and local law enforcement around the state.

Around 7 p.m. on Sunday, a Taylor resident called police to report an open front door at a home near Center and Main streets. Snowflake-Taylor officers who responded to conduct a welfare check went inside and found a man and woman with gunshot wounds.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Snowflake-Taylor police say a third person, identified as Cynthia’s 21-year-old special needs daughter, was also in the home but wasn’t injured.

Investigators said the scene will be completely processed by Tuesday. Police have not released the circumstances of the deaths. It’s also unclear if a suspect has been identified; however, police say they have no reason to believe there is any threat to area residents.

The police chief said his department is committed to finding whoever is behind the killings and that detectives are “working several investigative leads.”

The Arizona Rangers also posted a statement regarding Ranger Troy Templeton and Lt. Cynthia Templeton.

“This is a tragic loss for the community and the Arizona Rangers,” State Commander Col. Barry J. Adams said. “We wish to thank Chief Martin and all of the agencies and officers involved in this investigation.“
