Wyrick Fire continues to grow

The lightning caused Wyrick Fire burning seven miles northwest of Heber continues to grow and Navajo County has issued a Declaration of Emergency as the fire threatens surrounding communities.

As of the Monday morning report, the fire has burned more than 5,700 acres and is spreading primarily to the east. It is burning through timber and grass, exhibiting extreme fire behavior with spotting up to one-quarter mile.
Highway 260 is closed from Forest Lakes to Lone Pine Dam Road. 277 is closed from Heber to the 377 junction however the northbound lane will remain open for evacuees. 377 is closed from highway 277 to Holbrook.
