Holbrook, AZ: On the evening of January 25, 2021, and into the morning of January 26, 2021, Navajo County Sheriff’s Office in a coordinated effort with Heber/Overgaard Fire, Overgaard Public Works, and Coconino County Sheriff’s Office performed a rescue of a 72-year-old man, and his 35-year-old son, both from the Phoenix area. The two men got their vehicle stuck on Forest Service Road 86, just west of Black Canyon Lake. With the weather conditions and amount of snow that had already fallen, Navajo County Sheriff’s Office and Heber/Overgaard Fire contacted Overgaard Public Works for assistance with making a path to the two male subjects. A path was made to reach the subjects, assessments were made on the two men and with worsening weather conditions, they were not able to make it back to the vehicles. Coconino County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and was able to assist with bringing a Snow Cat to the scene. Both men and 4 dogs were safely brought back to Heber.Thank you to our surrounding agencies that were willing to assist in this event.
