FLAGSTAFF — Two individuals lost their lives after being struck by a train in Flagstaff on Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 7 p.m., emergency responders were summoned to the intersection of East Nestlé Purina Avenue and East Industrial Drive, located just south of the Flagstaff Mall, following reports of a train collision.
Upon the arrival of officers, they discovered two men who had been hit by an eastbound train. Both succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Investigators suspect that the men were traversing the tracks in a northerly direction towards the mall when the train collided with them. A third individual informed the police that one man fell while attempting to cross, and the other attempted to assist him when the train struck.
The Flagstaff Police Department is collaborating with railroad authorities as the investigation progresses. Notifications to next-of-kin are currently pending.
